THE INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS (GHANA) ELECTIONS COMMITTEE

  1. Members in Good Standing
  • Total number of members in Good Standing is 4,005 as at June 30th 2016.

       2. Voters’ List

  • The Voters’ List would be based on the members in good standing.

      3. Plan of Voting

  • There would be 10 registration points based on the number ranges
  • E.g. 100001 – 100500
  • 100501 - 101000
  • Registration for the Annual General Meeting starts at 8.00am
  • As a member registers for the AGM, a ballot paper would be given to him/her.
  • The Chairman would give a brief education to members on the voting process before the voting starts.

      4. Duration of Voting

  • Voting is expected to start as soon as the AGM is formally opened by 9.00am
  • Voting ends at 12.00 noon

      5. Ballot boxes

  • Ballot boxes would be placed in front of the registration points
  • A member is expected to cast his/ her vote and place the ballot paper in the ballot box designated for his/her number range.

      6 .Counting of Ballot papers / Votes

  • Counting of ballot papers would start as soon as voting ends
  • Counting would be done in the presence of the representatives of the candidates.

      7. Election Officers

  • Staff of Ghana Audit Service who are not members of the Institute, would be engaged as Polling Assistants.

      8. Valid Votes

  • Members are expected to choose at least 1 candidate and a maximum of 7 candidates.
  • Members must tick clearly in the box against the name of their preferred candidate(s).

      9. Invalid / Rejected Votes

  • A ballot paper would be rejected when:
  • a voter marks/ chooses more than 7 candidates
  • a voter fails to tick at least one vote

      10. Help Desk

  • A Help Desk would be provided for Members who need further clarifications on issues.

      11. Proxy Voting

  • There shall be No Proxy Voting
